There are few places on earth that have been blessed with such an abundance of nature. Nestled between the lush Western Ghats Mountains on the east and pristine waters of the Arabian Sea on the west, Kerala’s diverse flora & fauna, serene waterscapes, stupendous mountains, thick forests, gorgeous beaches bring delight to every mind. The land is also known for its rich and unique cultural heritage which paved the way for a more progressive society. Because of all these features, it is called God’s own country.
But for the last few days, this amazing land is in deep despair. It has faced the brunt of an unprecedented flood that has brought life to a
standstill. The official estimate shows that more than 350 people have lost their lives, about 9 lakh people are in 5645 rescue camps and thousands of houses damaged. There has been severe damage to roads,
bridges, and other properties also. The visuals of submerged homes and videos of stranded people who are pleading for rescue are absolutely shocking beyond belief. The media reports regarding the rescue operations portray a grim picture of the ground reality and give us a
sense of magnitude and scale of the catastrophe that has happened there.
With the sky turning clear, the state is slowly recovering from the
devastating flood. The government has announced that the last phase of
rescue operations are going on and rehabilitation work has just started
in some areas. Even though the rescue operations have entered the final
stage, there are several people still stranded in remote places. When
the operations complete, the important and challenging phase which is
rehabilitation process, is only going to intensify.
One has to really appreciate and salute the spirited efforts of the
people of Kerala during the flood. The efforts done by the authorities
especially the state government of has to be commended. One striking
feature we can notice during the entire exercise is that there has been a
perfect coordination between political leadership of the state and the
central government and the absence of mud-slinging among them. We also
have to applaud the works of the fishermen, the military and para
military forces during the tense situations. All of them performed
their talks with at most dedication and sincerity. Above all, we must
really appreciate the widespread support and solidarity from people
across the nation and the world towards the cause. The ordinary people
who had ears on the ground, coordinated the efforts and valiantly fought
this battle together. There are nameless, they don’t need any fame or
publicity. We can proudly say that they are the real heroes. These noble
efforts really needs to be extended for the coming days to reconstruct
the land.
The kind of resilience shown by the people of Kerala will always be remembered for the years to come..

going to be long and arduous one. But your help can make a difference.
